In 2012 I made the decision to train for a career in taxation and bookkeeping. By 2014 I had passed all the federal tests to become an Enrolled Agent. What this means is that I am licensed by the Department of the Treasury (the IRS) to represent any client, anywhere, in any tax matter.
I worked for one year with H&R Block as a “Master Tax Advisor”, one of their highest certifications. I soon decided to create my own company so that I could work more closely with my clients to improve their tax situations.
I am still a professional woodworker. It’s enjoyable and it reminds me of the difficulties people face when running their own business. The decisions they make dramatically affect their taxes.
